Samuel Mutzner – modern Romanian painter, influenced by impressionism and the spirit of travel

Samuel Mutzner (1884, Bucharest – 1959, Bucharest) was one of the important representatives of modern Romanian art, a student of Nicolae Grigorescu's school and of the famous Claude Monet in France. He studied in Paris and traveled extensively in Japan, China, Morocco and Latin America, bringing the light, color and visual rhythm of other cultures into his painting.

Mutzner's painting is marked by a rapid, vibrant brushstroke and a rich chromatic palette. He was a teacher and the husband of the painter Rodica Maniu. He participated in numerous personal and collective exhibitions, being present in major public and private collections in Romania and abroad.
