Collection: Rodica Maniu-Mutzner – painting between feminine sensitivity and Romanian modernism

Rodica Maniu-Mutzner – one of the first important female voices in modern Romanian painting

Rodica Maniu-Mutzner (1890, Sannicolau Mare – 1958, Bucharest) was a Romanian painter trained at the School of Fine Arts in Bucharest and later in Paris, where she came into contact with the French modernist movements. She was the sister of the painter Ionel Maniu and the wife of the painter Samuel Mutzner, with whom she shared both her artistic life and her plastic preoccupations.

Her painting is dominated by harmony, balance and refined chromatics. She approached themes such as portrait, still life and landscape, with a special sensitivity and a constant concern for light and line. She participated in numerous personal and group exhibitions, and her works are today in public and private collections.
