Rudolf Schweitzer-Cumpana (1886, Pitesti – 1975, Bucharest) was an important Romanian painter, known for his figurative style and for his compositions dedicated to rural life, genre scenes and portraits. He studied in Munich and Paris and was a teacher of several generations of artists at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bucharest.

His painting is distinguished by chromatic sobriety, social sensitivity and attention to the expression of faces and gestures. His favorite themes include portraits of peasants, traditional interiors, fairs and Romanian landscapes. He has been awarded numerous national and international prizes, and his works are in state and private collections.
