Sabin Balasa (1932, Dobriceni – 2008, Iasi) was a Romanian painter and muralist, recognized for his unmistakable style defined as "cosmic romanticism" – a fusion of myth, dream, philosophy and humanist ideals. He graduated from the "Nicolae Grigorescu" Institute of Fine Arts in Bucharest and created monumental works, including the famous mural frescoes at the "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University in Iasi.

Balasa's painting is marked by elongated figures, intense colors and recurring symbols such as the cosmos, flight, love, the idealized feminine and the universal man. His works convey a poetic and mystical vision of existence.
